Casa Mariol Wine Collection by Bendita Gloria

“Casa Mariol is a family-owned winery that has been elaborating wines in Terra Alta for over one hundred years. They have confidence in their agricultural model and consider their environmental commitment as something natural and deeply rooted in their everyday activity. Casa Mariol defends what is natural in the broadest sense of the word and is not at ease with the luxury that often goes together with the wine industry. For example, the bottles clearly call a spade a spade, by their grape variety and their age avoiding romantic cheesy names. Mariol makes homemade wines and even the design has also been resolved using homemade tools such as Wordart, Excel and Cliparts.”

This is what we could call a “WTF-design”. I mean that it could be the ugliest packaging you have never seen but it has this little thing which makes it very interesting, original and really nice. The willing anti-luxury aspect is mastered which gives a real strength to the visual.

This very creative and novel design has been realized by Bendita Gloria, a Barcelona-based studio which is used to create very original stuff. Take a look at their whole portfolio, it worth a glance.

Erwan Frotin Exhibition ID by Studio Lin

“For Erwan Frotin’s Wildflowers exhibition at Art+Commerce, we collaborated with Lisa Naftolin to create an invitation and portfolio package.We captured the spirit of Erwan’s photo series by air brushing the edges of each invitation with gradient colors.”

Studio Lin is a very creative studio based in New York City which aims to explore new territories concerning the graphic design world. To illustrate this great creativity, here it is a realization they did for Erwan Frotin. The gradient colors on the edges of the invitations are amazing and eye-catching as the minimalistic layout is strong and clear.

RoAndCordials by RoAndCo Studio

“Every year RoAndCo sends out a Christmas gift to special clients, friends and collaborators. Having recently moved into a new studio space, we wanted to tie in our 2011 Christmas gift with our office warming party. Based on the theme of RoAndCordials, we collaborated with Morris Kitchen who provided us with beautifully bottled and equally delicious Ginger Syrup. We printed the bottle labels in the style of traditional medicine/cordial bottles, including Ginger Syrup cocktail recipes and Happy Holiday messages in the text. In honor of our new White Street office and the festive season, we decided on a White theme for our party - and nestled the bottles on white shredded paper in a white cardboard box. The party invites were letterpressed in the same style as the bottle labels, and placed on top of the bottles. To remind our guests to wear white, we stamped this message onto small white squares of fabric and placed on top of the invite. For a final touch, we printed addressable stickers that wrapped around the box, mimicking the invite and bottle label.”

RoAndCo is a studio located in New York City which is used to realize very nice projects as this Christmas gift. The package is really well-thought and well-designed. The idea is also very original which shows all the studio’s capacities.

“Strata’s a homemade products bakery. The identity concept – Layers – is based on the analysis of the homemade elaboration of their cakes, which consist all of them on the meticulous multiple layers of ingredients superposition. Starting from the layer concept as a graphic synthesis of the product, we adapted it to the different applications by different resources. Reinforcing the graphic image with a striking chromatic range that contrasts with the variety of materials and the product.”

P.A.R is another great Barcelona-based graphic design studio. Here, they have succeeded in realizing a colorful brand identity while keeping a very harmonious and elegant atmosphere. The identity seems to fit perfectly the product aspect which gives a real strenght to those supports.

Collator Specimen by Vince Lo

“To showcase the development of Collator, I created a Process/Specimen book that captured the research, context and application of the typeface.

Along with the specimen, two glyph books were created to showcase the individual character.”

Vince Lo is a communication designer who lives and works in Vancouver. He is used to design any sort of supports but also typography as this one.

More than the font itself, the way to present it is very amazing. The different objects which accompany the core of the creation give it a real value and strength. These various books are beautiful and they provide a real atmosphere to the type.

Deutsche & Japaner is a creative studio based in Germany especially working in graphic design, product design, interior design, illustration and scenography. This team is used to create very amazing media. We are used to say that the shoemaker’s children always go barefoot but Deutsche & Japaner counters it with a wonderful work concerning their identity and printed matters.

The colors are extremely intense and the design absolutely smart. The edge of the card is very interesting with its really golden-bright aspect.

A Few and Far ID by Marcus Hollands

“A Few and Far were looking to promote their modern contemporary take on art and design, and the space in which their exhibitions are encased in. The design of the A Few and Far logo quite literally takes into account the space in which the gallery sits in. The 3 dimensional logo positions each of the four letters (AFAF) in each corner of the square, which relates to the space of the gallery where art is confined by the corners of the gallery walls. The opening night required print matter including posters, commentary booklets and flyers.”

Marcus Hollands is a Brisbane-based graphic designer. His work is very interesting because he has a great sense of layout. Everything is always where it has to be. In this case, he has designed the identity of an art gallery. His work on matters as a source of colors is very pure . It gives to the project a kind of naturality. Moreover, the logo is really nice as it has a double sense of lecture (2D & 3D).

They have designed this wonderful font for an agency called Looking for Architecture. This project is really nice because this type reminds the industrial universe while being very sharp and elegant. A glance at their book is enough to see how talented are these two graphic designers from Prague. Effectively, Adéla Svobodová and Pauline Kerleroux is a very interesting team of creative people which produce extremely nice projects. Here it is a catalogue and an invitation for the exhibition Fundaments & Sediments in City gallery Prague. Their work about fonts and colors is very balanced and smooth.

“In collaboration with Emmanuel Martinet. Editorial concept making the reading of Letters to a Young Poet, by Rainer Maria Rilke, goes into action and time, through a series of epistolary exchanges between two readers.”

Sarah Kremer is a french graphic designer which proposes a very artistic vision of layout and graphic elements working with concepts as project core. In fact, this project is really interesting because everything is precisely balanced. Illustrations, photographies, typographies, symbols and colours meet perfectly bringing out a really amazing atmosphere. The minimalistic-retro-futurist design of this creation gives to the project a very deep meaning full of poetry.

Brunswicker is a graphic design studio based in Copenhagen. They are used to produce real refined works for brands within fashion, lifestyle, design and media industries. For instance, they realized this brand identity for ByKATO, a danish design company.

This creation is really pure and fresh. Colours are at the same time pastel and catchy which brings out a real dynamism and a sensation of youthfulness. The very “less is more” approach performs the same function. Brunswicker succeeded in creating a strong identity with very few elements.

Pablo Funcia is a very talented spanish graphic designer. He is used to work with Helena Perez Garcia as he did on this project also collaborating with Anna Raga and Jose Cunyat. In fact, this realization is cool by putting together illustration, graphic design and layout in a very minimalistic way. The loneliness of the logo on each support give it a real presence and consequently a great impact. The composition in black and white reminds us the shadow of actors on stage illustrating the smartness and the elegancy of the this work.

Edgar Bak is a graphic designer based in Warzaw. This work enhances all his talent. With very few elements he succeeded in composing a very smart visual. Everything is based on typography and tonic color which accentuates the sensation of brightness and radiancy.
